According to the Foundation of Therapeutic Recreation textbook (Robertson, long ,2008 p.284) ââ¬Å"autism is a neurological disorder that effect a person ability to communicate, to understand language, to play and to relate to others. A diagnose of autism is given when a person exhibits 6 or more of 12 symptoms listed across three major areas social interaction, communication, and behavior.â⬠These symptoms can start as early as childhood. The Prevalence is 2% of the population and is it is more common in boys than girls. Also, there is no known cause for autism but has to have a genetic link that can be inheritable. Autism is a higher risk among children as the age of parents increases. Also, autism can limit emotional, social, and physical in daily functioning. Due to social limitation children with autism find it hard to make friends and usually limit their physical contact with adults. An Analysis Of Melville s The Novel Of Meandering ...
A Final Chapter This English class has taken such a unique approach. Some think that that is confusing and difficult to navigate, for me, this new approach to writing is just what I needed. Meandering thoughts and disconnection is at the beginning of any process and I am happy to accept that. Melville has shown us that this part of the process can be used in our favor, his book of meandering storylines is a rich piece that can teach you about yourself and the world, if only you let it. In the beginning of the novel Melville writes ââ¬Å"Take almost any path you please, and ten to one it carries you down a dale and leaves you there by a pool in the stream. There is magic in it. Let the most absent-minded of men be plunged in his deepest reveriesâ⬠(4). I am most attracted to this romantic, lyrical language because I find it to carry immense depth. Most of all I took this as an insight that confirmed this new way of writing and also warned us of the many paths of this book. This romantic Shakespearean language did not last very long and almost instantly I became confused again, challenged to take the bread crumbs that I did understand and take them for more than what they are. At the same time, I have had to let go of thinking that every detail is important. As a designer and an artist I enjoy leaving those bread crumbs. My favorite medium right now is costume design.. But Local community along other groups opposed the scheme and no one made the runway there is no job, no flights and no money ,but in return people have nice environment they enjoy living in the vicinity of airport and no longer have fear of bad environment and plane crashes. The Concept of Sameness in The Giver Paper Could the idea of sameness be harmful? The idea of sameness was presented in Lois Lowryââ¬â¢s novel, The Giver, where Jonas the main character lived in a community that everyone was the same. On the other hand, Jonas became the Receiver of Memory and realized that sameness was not as perfect since they had to give up important things such as love and colours. In the novel, The Giver, the author Lois Lowry demonstrates that sameness could mistreat people rather than benefit them as shown through character, atmosphere and symbolism. Jonas, the protagonist of the novel, was a twelve-year-old boy who was special, intelligent and courageous as shown through character. To interpret, Jonas received the most important position in the community that was the Receiver of Memory. It was a rare position however Jonas was somewhat more special than others. Therefore, Ceremony of Twelve happened every December. It was the day when every individuals aged twelve had to attend to be assigned a job by the Elders. The Chief Elder, who was the leader of Jonasââ¬â¢ community mentioned that ââ¬Å"Jonas has been selected to be our next Receiver of Memoryâ⬠(Lowry 60) and ââ¬Å"He has shown all of the qualities that a Receiver must haveâ⬠(Lowry 62). Jonas also can see Beyond, which in this case was colour. He received various memories from the Giver and figured out that sameness has taken away the colours from the community. Furthermore, Jonas showed his intelligence through knowing and understanding the ideas that th e Giver was trying to transfer to him quickly. As a result, when the Giver explained to Jonas that the community changed to sameness to protect the citizens from harmful things. However, they had to give up other important things such as love and the sight of colour. Jonas disagreed with sameness and stated, ââ¬Å"We shouldnââ¬â¢t have!â⬠(Lowry 95). She Loves Me Paper essays Taking place in a charmingly delightful Parfumeria in Budapest during the 1930s, this gem of a musical is based on the film, The Shop Around the Corner, starring Jimmy Stewart and Maureen Sullivan. The delightful premise playwright Miklos Laszlo puts to words in this work never fails to appeal to the romantic in all of us: while the lonely shop clerk Georg Carries on a very public feud with Miss Amalia Balash, a newly hired shop girl who grates heavily on his nerves, he is unwittingly falling in love with her by corresponding through a lonely hearts club. As a counterpoint to this engaging couple, the shop girl, Miss Ritter, is trying to extricate herself from an unhappy love affair with the man about town and cad of all cads, assistant shop manager, Mr. Kolady. Talk about a contrast in love affairs. It is no wonder that the New York Times called She Loves Me "the happiest musical with a score that is a sheer delight for the theatergoers." Theatre in a box setting, I find is usually best for one-person shows or melodramas. And in this case, I will not disagree. Putting on a musical in a box theatre was one of the worst moves Foothill has ever made. Musicals are about singing and dancing and movement. The theatre provided did not allow for much of that at all. I felt sorry for the actors as they tried to move about, at times awkwardly as to not run in to one another. I also felt so bad for them when they sang. I felt like they had to (obviously) adjust for being in such a small space, with a band to boot. In order to really get ones voice across to an audience, projection is usually in order. But in this case, the space was so small it was almost as if the actors were having to sing softer than they were used to or felt comfortable with. But if the worst part about a play is the place in which it is produced, it cant be all that bad, right...? Right! The acting in this production of She Loves...
